Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of the Dhi Rani program to facilitate the marriages of underprivileged and deserving couples across Punjab. Under this initiative, more than 3,000 girls will be married off with a dedicated fund of PKR 1 billion.
The announcement was made during a mass wedding ceremony in Lahore, where 50 couples tied the knot. Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the government's commitment to supporting underprivileged families.
As part of the program, each girl will receive wedding essentials, including furniture and other necessary items, along with financial assistance of up to PKR 100,000. The program will also introduce the Dhi Rani Card, enabling beneficiaries to access wedding-related items and monetary aid seamlessly.
In another significant development, Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved a PKR 62 billion budget for the Apni Chat Apna Ghar initiative, aimed at addressing the housing needs of citizens without homes. Under this scheme, individuals will be eligible to secure loans of up to PKR 2 million to build their own houses.
The Chief Minister stated, “Owning a home is the fundamental right of every citizen, and the government is determined to provide full support to ensure that every citizen can achieve this dream.”
Both initiatives reflect the Punjab government’s commitment to improving the lives of the province’s underprivileged population.
